Just who is Wynston & Ward?

My Name is August Edmunds, and I’m a Photographer and Designer based in San Diego, California. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my creative journey began in the world of design, where I developed a strong foundation in visual storytelling and an eye for thoughtful, intentional detail.

Over time, that passion naturally evolved into photography, an extension of my design roots that allows me to tell deeper, more human stories. My work bridges the gap between design and photography, combining aesthetic understanding with emotional depth to create imagery that resonates.

I focus on a range of work, including portrait photography, couple sessions, events, and nonprofit storytelling. At the core of every project is a desire to understand the people and purpose behind the camera, and to craft visuals that reflect both with honesty and care.

Together with my wife, we run a creative practice grounded in connection. Our shared goal is to deliver work that feels genuine, intentional, and deeply aligned with the stories we’re telling. We believe great photography starts with trust, and we’re passionate about working with individuals and organizations who care deeply about what they do.

Outside of photography, I’m inspired by good design, community-centered projects, the outdoors, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Guided by my faith, these values shape not only the way I live, but also the way I create.
